Nota del Cabildo de la Catedral de Santiago a las Asociaciones y otras Instituciones que emiten credenciales para los peregrinos que realizan el Camino de Santiago. Tras un amplio diálogo con muchas de las entidades que emiten Credenciales, y a petición de varias de ellas, se hace necesario abordar un asunto que está perjudicando seriamente la imagen del Camino y de la Peregrinación. En la actualidad recibimos más de 25 modelos de credencial, con precios que van desde la gratuidad hasta los veinte euros en algunos casos. Se ha intentado venderlas, incluso, a través de internet. La acogida pastoral, la atención esmerada, y la gratuidad deben ser los objetivos fundamentales de nuestra presencia en el Camino y en la meta de la Peregrinación. La Catedral de Santiago tiene registrada su propia credencial que debe ser considerada la única válida y cuyo precio, para el peregrino, no podrá sobrepasar los 2 euros. La gestión de la credencial no puede realizarse con criterios ni comerciales ni de lucro; los rendimientos que de ello pudieran derivarse, necesariamente limitados con el modelo que se establece, deberán redundar siempre en favor del mejor servicio y atención a los peregrinos. Si algún grupo o entidad quiere personalizar dicha credencial, es posible dejar un espacio en blanco y, mediante acuerdo con la Oficina de Acogida al Peregrino, podrá añadirse un breve texto que no contradiga, sino por el contrario subraye el sentido cristiano de la Peregrinación. La Oficina de la Catedral se encargará de la impresión de la misma. Con el objeto de evitar perjuicios a todas aquellas entidades que están expidiendo credenciales se les concede una moratoria para que puedan utilizar las mismas: hasta el primero de abril de 2016. A partir de esa fecha sólo se admitirán para expedir la "Compostela", las credenciales oficiales de la Oficina de Acogida al Peregrino. Las instituciones extranjeras se regirán por un acuerdo especial. Todos los otros acuerdos y convenios serán evaluados, debidamente dialogados con los interesados, y se actuará en consecuencia. Mantener la Oficina de Acogida al Peregrino, abierta todos los días del año, supone un esfuerzo ciertamente no pequeño para la catedral, pero el Cabildo no quiere renunciar a un trabajo pastoral (acogida, recepción y escucha) que considera esencial en este momento en que toda la Iglesia está empeñada en la tarea de la Nueva Evangelización; y ello, como no puede ser de otro modo, nos urge a tratar de evitar cualquier forma de abuso hacia el peregrino que, de producirse y en última instancia –sea cual fuere su causante- iría en desdoro de la Iglesia. La Catedral de Santiago anima y sostiene la Oficina de Acogida al Peregrino y es firme propósito del Cabildo Metropolitano, su responsable, no renunciar al trabajo pastoral que supone la Oficina y ofrecerlo, sino gratuitamente, sí con el mínimo coste posible para el peregrino; más aún a "coste simbólico". Las Asociaciones, personas y devotos de Santiago son invitados cordialmente a ayudar en el sostenimiento de la Oficina, que a nadie se oculta, resulta muy onerosa para la Catedral. O ANO SANTO 2010 O Ano Santo 2010 vai ter uma abertura simbólica no dia 31 de Dezembro de 2009, em Santiago de Compostela (E). A peregrinação a Santiago é, desde há centenas de anos, a forma mais antiga de fazer turismo. Eram vários os motivos que levavam as pessoas a fazer a peregrinação. Em 1122, durante a difusão das Reformas Gregorianas, o Papa Callistus, instituiu que todos os anos em que a festa de Santiago (25 de Julho) calhasse num Domingo, seriam Anos Santos. Em 1179, a bula do Papa Alexandre III, concedia indulgência plenária a quem fizesse a peregrinação durante esse tempo: a visita ao túmulo apostólico, que já de si bastava para mobilizar os fiéis, era agora recompensada com a promessa da salvação. Para tomar conta dos viajantes, nasceram mosteiros, igrejas, hospitais, abrigos, pontes e caminhos, muitos dos quais atraíram a população rural circundante e levaram ao nascimento de novas cidades. A necessidade de repovoar territórios recentemente recuperados ao Islão, também contribuiu para o nascimento destas novas cidades, o que, por sua vez, levou a que os reis cristãos oferecessem cartas de liberdade e privilégios àqueles que se estabelecessem ao longo dessa rota. Por isso, não nos devemos surpreender se lermos que multidões até 250.000 peregrinos, eram mobilizadas todos os anos durante os séculos XII e XIII. Muitos deles eram movidos por uma fé inquebrável e a procura da salvação através da penitência, outros com o objectivo de cumprir uma pena e alguns, poucos, com o objectivo de ganhar dinheiro fazendo a peregrinação a mando de algum governante. Todos eles podiam ser distinguidos através do seu vestuário, mas acima de tudo através da concha (natural ou feita de estanho, chumbo ou prata) que identificava os peregrinos que a adquiriam; no início apenas em Santiago, e depois, ao longo do resto do caminho. Há muitas versões relativas ao significado das conchas; as primeiras vieiras eram apanhadas em Finisterra, na região em que Santiago pregava e, por isso, representavam o fim do caminho, o encontro com o professor e a salvação. Significavam, também, um símbolo de protecção, já que era considerada uma ofensa grave atacar ou roubar qualquer peregrino que tivesse uma concha. Depois do declínio observado nas peregrinações a partir do século XIV em diante, causado pelas pragas, pelas guerras religiosas do século XVI, e dada a franca expansão da influência do iluminismo, houve, agora, um genuíno reviver deste fenómeno, sem dúvida relacionado com a peregrinação feita pelo Papa João Paulo II, que visitou Santiago em 1982. O Ano Santo de 1993 trouxe mais de 100.000 peregrinos a Compostela, que vieram a pé, de bicicleta ou a cavalo. Este número aumentou para 150.000 no Ano Santo seguinte em 1999 e para 180.000 no Ano Santo de 2004. Os números dos últimos anos, que não foram de jubileu duplicaram em rela- ção a anos anteriores, pelo que esperamos que o jubileu de 2010 atraia centenas de milhares de peregrinos e milhões de visitantes movidos pela fé, pelo desejo de ver o mundo e para viverem a experiência do Caminho sozinhos ou acompanhados. Aqueles que conseguem chegar a Santiago sem ajuda, durante qualquer ano, são recompensados com o certificado "Compostela", um certificado emitido pela agência do peregrino, certificando que a rota foi percorrida por razões religiosas, atribuido também aos peregrinos que percorrem os últimos 100 km a pé ou a cavalo, ou os últimos 200km, no caso dos ciclistas. Em ambos os casos, têm que apresentar um documento provando que são peregrinos ou os carimbos de abrigos ou paróquias por onde tenham passado ao longo da rota. Deste modo, desde muito cedo que a peregrinação a Santiago se tornou no fenómeno cultural e religioso mais espectacular e profundo da Idade Média, recentemente reconhecido pelo Parlamento Europeu, que o designou “O Primeiro Caminho do Itinerário Cultural Europeu”, e pela UNESCO, que o declarou “Rota de Património Mundial”. THE HOLY YEAR 2010 The Holy Year 2010 will be opened in Santiago de Compostela (E) on December 31st 2009. The Santiago Pilgrimage is already for ages the oldest form of Tourism. There were numerous motives for undertaking the pilgrimage. Most of them were moved by unbreakable faith and the search for salvation by means of penitence; some others in order to serve a sentence and a few in order to earn money by making the pilgrimage on behalf of some ruler. They could all be distinguished by their attire-staff or crook with a pumpkin for drinking, bag, hat but above all by the shell (natural or made of lead, tin or silver) that identified the pilgrims that acquired it, at the beginning only in Santiago and then along the rest of the way. En 1122, durante la difusión de las Reformas Gregorianas, el Papa Callistus, estableció que siempre que la fiesta de Santiago (25 Julio) fuera un domingo, ese sería un Año Santo. En 1179, la bula del Papa Alexander III, dio indulgencia plenaria a todos aquellos que hicieran la peregrinación durante ese tiempo: la visita al túmulo apostólico, que ya era suficiente para movilizar a los creyentes, era ahora también gratificada con la promesa de salvación. Para cuidar de los viajeros, nacieron monasterios, iglesias, hospitales, albergues y caminos que han atraído a la población rural circundante y así han surgido nuevas ciudades. Todos ellos podían ser reconocidos por su vestuario: por su sombrero, por su bordón y el recipiente para el agua potable, pero más que todo, por su peregrino concha (natural o hecha de estaño, plomo o plata) que identificaba los peregrinos que la obtenían, al inicio solamente en Santiago, pero después, también por todo el resto del camino. Hay muchas versiones relativas al significado de las conchas; las primeras conchas, las vieiras, eran recogidas en Finisterra, en la región donde Santiago predicaba, y, por eso, representaban el fin del camino, el encuentro con el profeta y la salvación. Más tarde, eran también un símbolo de protección, pues era ofensa grave atacar o robar cualquier peregrino que tuviera una concha. Después de la caída de las peregrinaciones a partir del siglo XIV, primero debido a plagas y después debido a las guerras religiosas del siglo XVI, y la influencia del iluminismo que estaba en expansión, se puede observar, ahora, una reactivación real del fenómeno. Sin duda, que esto tiene una fuerte conexión con la peregrinación hecha por el Papa Juan Pablo II, que visitó Santiago de Compostela en el año de 1982. El Año Santo de 1993, llevó más de 100.000 peregrinos a Compostela, los cuales fueron a pié, en bicicleta o a número aumentó para 150.000 en el Año Santo siguiente, 1999 y para 180.000 en el Año Santo de 2004. Los números de los últimos años que no han sido de Jubileo han continuado duplicandose con relación a los años anteriores, y así, esperamos que el Jubileo de 2010 sea capaz de atraer a cientos de miles de peregrinos movidos por su fé, por su deseo de ver el mundo y para vivir la experiencia del Camino, solos o en la compañía de otros. Aquellos que consiguen llegar a Santiago sin ayuda, durante cualquier año, son gratificados con el certificado de "Compostela", un certificado expedido por la oficina de peregrinos, certificando que el camino fue hecho por motivos religiosos. Si le da a todos los peregrinos que hacen los últimos 100 kilómetros a pié o a caballo, o los últimos 200 kilómetros, en el caso de los ciclistas. As bebidas estimulantes também devem ser evitadas. *Se precisar de fazer as necessidades, escolha locais que nao fiquem em zonas de passagem. Inaugurado en Santiago el centro internacional que "revolucionará" la acogida de peregrinos El traslado de la Oficina del Peregrino se hará de forma paulatina al nuevo centro y empezará a funcionar a principios de 2016 • EUROPA PRESS. 26.10.2015 El titular de la Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, ha inaugurado este lunes, acompañado de otras autoridades civiles y religiosas, el nuevo Centro Internacional de Acogida a los Peregrinos que "revolucionará" la atención a quienes realicen el Camino, que llegan —en palabras del presidente— "más que nunca y estarán mejor atendidos que nunca". Con una inversión que ronda el millón y medio de euros en virtud de un convenio con Turismo, el centro ocupa una parte del antiguo asilo de la compostelana calle Carretas y fue rehabilitado por la Fundación Catedral. Contará con instalaciones como un espacio de atención a los peregrinos en diversas lenguas, biblioteca de estudios jacobeos, zona y oficina de información turística sobre el Camino de Santiago y Galicia, zona para las asociaciones amigos del Camino, área de administración e información, centro interconfesional, salón de actos y capilla. También incorporará una zona de servicios para los peregrinos y con la propia Oficina del Peregrino del Cabildo de la Catedral, donde podrá recogerse la compostela. El arzobispo de Santiago, Julián Barrio, ha situado a principios de año el arranque de su funcionamiento y ha precisado que el traslado de la actual Oficina del Peregrino se hará de forma paulatina. "Depende un poco del número de peregrinos que sigan viniendo", ha apuntado, en declaraciones a los medios, después del acto de inauguración en el que se encargó de la bendición previa a un recorrido de las autoridades por las instalaciones del centro. Posteriormente, en su intervención, el arzobispo ha agradecido el "apoyo decidido y clarividente" del presidente gallego, y ha apelado, ante el alcalde de Santiago, Martiño Noriega, a trabajar conjuntamente y "sin excluir" otros servicios para que Compostela sea "capital espiritual" de Europa. Recuerdo a fraga Por su parte, Feijóo ha proclamado que, con la inauguración de este centro se hace realidad "un sueño" que parecía "inalcanzable" hace apenas 25 años. "Hoy es posible gracias a la colaboración de todos", ha sentenciado, antes de recordar la figura del fallecido Manuel Fraga y su compromiso con potenciar el Camino y la peregrinación a Santiago. En cuanto a la inversión realizada que ronda el millón y medio de euros, ha señalado que es "poco" si se compara con el "extraordinario retorno directo e indirecto" que se produce con la llegada de cada peregrino, al que también aludió previamente el arzobispo. El presidente ha concretado que "por cada euro que pone la Administración, Galicia recibe más de diez". Por ello, ha resaltado que el principal compromiso de su Ejecutivo continúa siendo que el Camino llegue a su cita del Año Santo 2021 "en las mejores condiciones posibles" y que los peregrinos que lleguen "estén mejor atendidos que nunca gracias a lugares como éste". Récord de viajeros Por otra parte, Feijóo ha insistido en las buenas cifras alcanzadas en términos de recepción de peregrinos, con las que se baten, ha remarcado, "todos los récords". Ha señalado que en 2015 llegaron a Galicia 250.000 peregrinos, "una cifra histórica que incluso supera a los años jacobeos". Por último, el mandatario ha recordado que, con el objetivo de sacar el mayor partido posible a los recursos públicos, su Ejecutivo ha aprobado el plan director del Camino, un documento que será la hoja de ruta hasta el próximo Año Santo y en el que participaron hasta 170 asociaciones y 220 personas.

The new town was built in five months, is a fine example of town-planning in those days, with its grid-plan streets, whitewashed houses and distinctive roofs. Vila Real has become one of the largest fishing and commercial ports along Guadiana River and in the Algarve. Between 1850 and 1970 VRSA was a considerable fish-canning center. Yachts for export are also built here. The connection with Spain is provided by a ferry service and, since 1991, a bridge over Guadiana River. Vila Real de Santo António is popular with the Spanish who cross over to buy cotton goods, souvenirs, etc. *SIGHTS* PRACA DO MARQUÊS DE POMBAL; This is the main square in the center of the Pombaline Quarter, on the north side Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Encarnacao(XVIII). This last “Vieira – Concha – Scallop-Shell” remembering that until November 1st, 11 a.m., 1755, Pilgrims following “O Caminho Tavirense”, passed through Castro Marim, trying to hire on a boat to sail up Guadiana River, direction Alcoutim, Mértola and further north, from there on foot along the River under protection of the Castles to Santiago de Compostela. About 20 years after the “Lisbon Earthquake” then Vila Real de Santo António was founded and Port-Facilities were constructed, 1774. So from about 1775 on, Pilgrims following the Algarve Coast, under protection of the Castles, walked by Faro, Livramento to Tavira, and from there to Conceição, Cacela Velha and Vila Real de Santo António, where they tried to hire on a boat for transport north by the River, following the same Route, “La Route des Chateaux”, Caminho do Este de Portugal, Caminho Tavirense. In the 19th Century Pilgrimming became that important for VRSA, that Vieiras were used in the façade of the First Hotel in the East Algarve, Hotel Guadiana in Vila Real de Santo António, now in restauration. Na parede de uma das casas, lê-se o poema de Sophia de Melo Breyner "As pracas-fortes foram conquistadas/ por seu poder e foram sitiadas/ As cidades do mar pela sua riqueza/ Porém Cacela/ Foi desejada só pela beleza". After a break for food and drinks, walk back by Largo da Igreja and Rua Sofia Mello Bryner Andresen to the main-crossing, turn right and continue your Caminho by M-1242 walking the former Rua da Missa until you reach N-125. *Before reaching the N-125, 30 meters before on your right, you can read Rua da Missa, where you go right direction Manta Rota M-1248, Estrada Dr. Luis Medeiros Antunes which leads you to main-crossing in Manta Rota(yellow arrows!). The yellow arrows indicate at the crossing to walk nearly straight on, following in Manta Rota Rua General Vila Lobos until small roundabout where you walk straight on Rua do Pescador.......

***2018/2019 After a long period the N-125 Bridge over Rio Almargem was opened for traffic and Pilgrims on foot and on bicycles(after at least 18 months). Next question what about "Caminho Route Bridge" south of Railroad, which can also not be used since last year 2018.??? -Our volunteers have marked with yellow arrows and stickers a detour, since last week again using the N-125 Bridge, passing in front of Hotel OZADI and Snack Bar O Vale, and returning to the original Caminho Route in Conceicao. --------------------------------------------------------------- 2015, Conceicao de Tavira, Link zur Ersten Etappe des Caminho Santiago Tavirense.
