*We are having some work(obras) done in the "Parish-Center", Rua D. Paio Peres Correia, Nº 45, "Info-45", this week, so we will not be present on Friday September 29th 2023. We hope the "obras" will be finished soon, so we can receive International Catholic Pigrims again at Nº 45, "Parish-Center-Info-45" as Pilgrims were used to since 2009. As soon as the "obras" are finished, we hope to be again at Nº 45, the "Parish-Center-Info-45" at the service of Pilgrims that like to start their Caminho de Santiago from Tavira-Algarve, being given the Information they need, the Carimbos in their Credencials for free, and the Credencials against costprice, as Catholic Pilgrims may expect.( Week-39 2023.).*

Calendar Activities September 2016, Caminho de Santiago do Este de Portugal desde Tavira(XIV). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Because of ongoing warm weather, there will not be any ACTIVITIES until 21.09.2016. *On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we hand out Credencials and give Information to future Pilgrims on appointment in Pousada de Juventude – Auberge de Jeunesse in TAVIRA between 10.00 and 11.00 a.m.. *Also the same weekdays between 11.10 and 11.20 a.m. we meet on appointment with future Pilgrims at the entrance of Igreja Matriz de Santiago de Tavira, for Carimbos, Credencials and/or Information about “O Caminho de Santiago do Este de Portugal desde Tavira, Caminho Tavirense”. *Appointments can be made by Email or by Tel. after 9 p.m./ baesurissantiago@live.com / 00351 919 528 654 / Blog: http://walkingbaesurissantiago.blogspot.com / *During the month of September 2016 some Volunteers will be maintaining the Route and Waymarking. *There excist more then 1000 different Routes of the Caminho de Santiago all over Europe, but they all end in Santiago de Compostela in Espanha, already more then 1000 years. *Caminhos de Santiago/ Ways of Saint James/ Chemins de Saint Jacques und Jakobswege, start from the doorstep of your home, by your Parish-Church, by the Route you have chosen to follow, to the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela at the Tomb of Santiago Apóstol. *Nowadays Pilgrims preparing their Caminho achieve a Valid Credencial with the nearest registered Association of Amigos do Caminho de Santiago (Tavira), cost price 2€, which they present at the Starting-point of their Caminho, Igreja Matriz de Santiago in Tavira, or in Chaves(P.) for the last 200 kms. by bicycle, or in Ourense(E.) for the last 100 kms on foot to Santiago de Compostela, 2 stamps/Carimbos per day. *End of June 2016 already more then 100.000 Pilgrims collected their COMPOSTELA in Santiago at the OFICINA DEL PEREGRINO, Rúa Carretas N° 33, after (correctly) finishing their Way of Saint James, Caminho de Santiago. *On Saturday August 20th 2016, from Ourense started a young Family from TAVIRA , for their Last 100 kms on foot to Santiago de Compostela, the Cathedral and Tomb of Santiago Apóstol.     FRIENDS OF THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO ASSOCIATIONS

    Because of this important Event we will not be available on Saturday June 6th 2015 in Tavira's Pousada de Juventude, for information about our
    Caminho and for Credencials.

    Therefore some volunteers will be at the Pousada de Juventude in Tavira between 10.30 and 11.45 a.m.
    on Monday June 8th 2015, for Credencials and Information about "O Caminho do Este de Portugal desde Tavira, Caminho Tavirense".

    After Chaves Our Caminho follows from Verín nearly the same Route as the Camino de Santiago de Sevilla Via de la Plata.

    If you have more questions about our Way of Saint James leaving from Tavira, Caminho Tavirense, please send us an E-mail or visit us on the 1st, 3rd or 5th Saturday of the month, at the Pousada de Juventude in Tavira, the Public Library in VRSA or the Parador Hotel in Ayamonte.

    Next meeting for future Pilgrims preparing for Caminho do Este de Portugal, Credencials and Information, on Saturday June 20th, Public Library in Vila Real de Santo António, between 3.00 and 5.00 p.m..

    On Saturday July 4th volunteers will be available in Tavira's Pousada de Juventude, between 3.00 and 4.30 p.m., for Credencials and Information.

    On Saturday July 25th we will remember The Day of Saint James (Santiago). More information soon.

    *Eucaristia Igreja Santiago as 21h30.

    Samstag 25 Juli Wanderung am Jakobsweg ab Livramento Bahnhof 10.00 Uhr,
    -über teilweise Römerstraße-Balsa nach Torres d’Aires,
    -über Luz de Tavira-Pedras del Rei nach Tavira,
    -Endpunkt der Wanderung vor Santiago Kirche Tavira,
    -Kosten eigenen Transport bis Startpunkt Bahnhof Livramento und in einem geschlossenen
    Briefumschlag mit Namen, Telefonnummer und Datum der Wanderung, eine freie Spende
    für ACEP unsere Associacao do Caminho de Santiago do Este de Portugal ab Tavira.

    Sonntag 26 Juli 2015 Trainings-Probe Wanderung auf der Ersten Etappe zwischen Tavira
    und Castro Marim, ab Santiago Kirche in Tavira bis zur Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora dos
    Mártires in Castro Marim, Paroquia de Sao Tiago.
    Treffpunkt Bahnhof Tavira um 9.h45 zu Fuß an Pousada de Juventude vorbei zur Santiago Kirche, ab wo die Probe-Wanderung anfängt auf der Ersten Etappe, Von Kirche zu Kirche.
    Neuer Link/Teilstück Conceicao an der Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao vorbei,
    (5 Minuten Pause), an der Junta de Freguesia vorbei und 20 Minuten Pause für Kaffee bei Rósalia. Nach Kaffee (oder anderes Getränk) weiter nach Cacela Velha wo es wieder 20 Minute Pause gibt mit kalte und warme Getränke. Weiter über Manta Rota nach Altura wo wieder eine Pause vorgesehen ist bei 5 Sentidos (20 Minuten). Ab Altura über Sao Bartholomeu, 10 Minuten Kaffee-Pause, und den letzten Teil bis zur Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora dos Mártires in Castro Marim, Sao Tiago Paroquia.
    Zum Abschluss noch ein kurzes Zusammensein gegenüber Turismo bei Café Pastelaria Raiana, Praca 1 de Maio Castro Marim.

    Kosten: eigenen Transport zum Bahnhof Tavira, und Rücktransport ab Castro Marim am Ende und eine Spende für ACEP in einem geschlossenen Briefumschlag mit Namen, Telefonnummer und Datum der Wanderung.

  4. PROGRAMME SAINT JAMES’ DAY, 25th July 2015, FESTA DE SANTIAGO TAVIRA.
    *Eucaristia Igreja Santiago as 21h30, Holy Mass at Santiago Church Tavira at 9.30 p.m..

    Saturday July 25th, Guided Walk along the “Caminho Santiago do Este de Portugal desde Tavira”, starting from the trainstation LIVRAMENTO at 10 a.m.;
    -following Roman Roads near BALSA between Livramento and Luz de Tavira (Torre d’Aires),
    -following Roman Roads between Luz de Tavira, Pedras del Rei and Tavira’s Santiago Church,
    -following the footsteps of Middle Age Pilgrims walking from Faro – Olhao – Fuseta to Tavira, Pilgrimmig to Santiago de Compostela.
    COST: transport to trainstation Livramento and return transport home from Tavira after the walk, PLUS in a closed envelope, showing full name, telephonenumber, Email and date of the walk, saying “Donativo”, containing a free gift for our Association ACEP, Associacao Amigos do Caminho de Santiago do Este de Portugal desde Tavira, Caminho Santiago Tavirense.

    Sunday July 26th, Guided training/try out walk on the 1st Stage between Tavira and Castro Marim, starting from the trainstation TAVIRA at 9.45 a.m. From there we will walk by the Pousade de Juventude de Tavira, the pilgrims route to Igreja de Santiago from where we start the first Stage following the route, o Caminho do Este de Portugal desde Tavira, waymarked!
    Arriving in Conceicao passing Igreja Matriz da Nossa Senhora da Conceicao (5 minutes break), passing Junta de Freguesia to Snack-Bar Rósalia, coffee break 20 minutes. From here we will continue our Way direction Cacela Velha where there is again a break of 20 minutes.
    After the break we will follow the waymarked route by Manta Rota and Altura, where will have another stop of 20 minutes at 5 Sentidos Bar. After the break we will continue our walk direction Castro Marim passing by Sao Bartholomeu (10 minutes break) for our last part of the 1st Stage of the Caminho do Este de Portugal desde Tavira.
    We will finish our walk from Church to Church in Castro Marim at the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora dos Martires, Santiago Parish.
    To end our walking day, we will have a chat/gettogether at Café Pastelaria Raiana, Praca 1 de Maio opposite of the Tourist Office.

    COST: transport to trainstation Tavira and return transport home from Castro Marim after the walk, PLUS in a closed envelope, showing full name, telephonenumber, Email and date of the walk, saying “Donativo”, containing a free gift for our Association ACEP, Associacao
    Amigos do Caminho de Santiago do Este de Portugal desde Tavira, Caminho Santiago Tavirense.

    Do not forget to take 2 full ½ liter bottles of water, outside of your Rucksack, some fruit and food, good well-prepared shoewear, sunglasses and hat, and suntancreme and very good mood.
    We expect to walk an average speed /pace of about 4km per hour, distance 25+ kms, meaning about 8 hours walking including breaks.
